Barbara Walk is the winner of our "Queen for a Day" contest, selected by our judges for the royal treatment, the Magic way, in honor of this 100th anniversary of Mother’s Day. Barbara was chosen because of a letter submitted by her daughter, Melissa Hutchinson.
Here is Melissa's winning letter:
My mother, Barbara Walk, should be queen for the day. She is a real life Cinderella, and deserves her chance to be a queen. Not only is her appearance beautiful, but her beauty stems from a loving heart.
Growing up, she always took the back seat to my brother and me. She made many sacrifices for things she may have wanted to make sure my brother and I had what we needed or wanted. She is the best mother in the world. When we were growing up and in school, she was the best study partner or playmate there was.
She made sure we had time to do our homework and has always been there when we need her. No matter where we have been (school or military) she was right there if we needed her, no matter the distance or obstacles she had to over come to get to our side. My mom is one of the best people I know and is my best friend. She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it or if she thought you wanted it. She is so giving and humble.
Mom gave up her time to help take care of my grandparents (both her parents and my dad's mom and stepfather) and was by their side when they became sick. She was always there if they needed something from the store or wanted someone to talk to. She is the most loving person, and gives so much of herself to others! She is just a very special person and I believe she deserves the world, no, the universe!
I appreciate all she has done for me and I want the world to know what she means to me! She is very deserving of this award and is already a recepient in my book.
